A funeral Mass for Maxine Kollasch, 90, of Bancroft, was held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 27, 2024, at Divine Mercy Parish ~ St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Bancroft. The funeral was live streamed on the Divine Mercy Parish YouTube page. Burial was held in the church cemetery. Visitation was from 9:30 AM until the time of the service on Friday at the church.

Maxine Agnes (Nemmers) Kollasch was born January 26, 1934, in Bancroft, daughter of Clarence and Martha (Steffy) Nemmers. She grew up in Bancroft and graduated from St. John’s Catholic High School. 

On April 22, 1952, she was united in marriage to Edgar C. Kollasch St. John’s Catholic Church. They raised their five children in Bancroft.

Maxine held a variety of positions throughout her career, including Peavey Company in Bancroft, the fabric department at Ben Franklin, Gambles store in Bancroft, as well as working at the local grocery store.

Maxine was a wonderful, loving wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, and friend to many. A devoted mother and grandmother, she cherished attending all their activities and was always the proudest cheerleader in the stands. She was passionate about gardening and spent countless hours canning. Maxine had a love for cooking and baking and sharing her meals with others. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, and was actively involved as president of the VFW, a member of Catholic Daughters, the Altar Society, and a member of St. John’s Catholic Church.

Maxine died Monday, September 23, 2024, at West Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was 90. 

She is survived by five children, Anne Kollasch of Algona, Chuck (Sandy) Kollasch of Algona, Frank (Darlene) Kollasch of Bancroft, Michelle (Brian) Hellman of Mitchell, SD, and Carolyn (Bill) Leners, of Lake View; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; siblings, John Nemmers of Algona, Tom Nemmers of Des Moines, Linda (Charlie) Carlson of Tipton, Colleen (Roger) Rademaker of Bancroft, Mary Pat Nemmers of Algona; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Preceding her in death are her husband, Edgar in 2012; parents, Clarence and Martha Nemmers; and brothers, Eugene Nemmers, DeWayne Nemmers, Kenneth Nemmers, Dave Nemmers, James Nemmers, and Steven Nemmers.
