Carole Welp, 89, of Chandler, AZ, formerly of Bancroft, died Thursday evening at her home in Chandler, AZ. A funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 AM Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Divine Mercy Parish ~ St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Bancroft. Burial will follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Bancroft. Her family will greet friends on Friday, August 16, 2024, from 4 to 6 PM, at Oakcrest Funeral Services of Bancroft.

Carole Marie Finn Welp was born in Algona, IA on October 10, 1934, to William & Nelda Finn. She graduated from Algona High School in 1952, and from the University of Iowa in 1956.

On January 13, 1958, she was united in marriage to Donald J. Welp of Bancroft, IA at St.Cecelia’s Catholic Church in Algona, IA. They made their home in Bancroft, IA, where she was a housewife and mother, helped Don run the local Pharmacy, and was very active in the local community with the St John’s Alter Society, Bancroft Chamber of Commerce, Bancroft Library board, Hospice advisory board and Rotary Club. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, cross stitching, and traveling. Carole and Don were married for 49 years. After their retirement, they spent their winters in Arizona and their summers in Bancroft. Carole lived permanently in Chandler, AZ, starting in 2017.

Carole is survived by five children: Kevin Welp and wife Judy of Queen Creek, AZ and their two sons, Jake of Chandler, AZ and Joseph of Austin, TX; Tim Welp and his son Zachary both of Chandler, AZ; Molly Doyle of North Mankato, MN, and her two daughters Erin (Joey) Janda and their children Emma and Ethan of North Mankato, MN, and Emily (Kyle) Moret and their son Jack of Rochester, MN; Susan Welp of Chandler, AZ; Elsie Niklason and husband Jeff of Chandler, AZ; and a granddaughter, Sarah (Ben) Williams and and their son Micah of Newhall, IA. She is also survived by her brother, James Finn and wife Paula of Decatur, IL.

Carole was preceded in death by her parents, William and Nelda Finn; her husband Donald Welp; her daughter, Anne Folkmann; and grandchildren, Alan, Andrea, and Hannah Folkmann.
